Country garden in full bloom

Gardens that get better,
not older.

Foxhollow is a small studio of three designers, working on no more than eight private gardens at a time. We believe in considered planting, patient construction, and designs that grow into themselves over the years. We draw by hand. We plant with the seasons in mind. And we come back.

Our clients are homeowners who want more than a tidy lawn and a bit of bedding. Some are first-time garden people discovering what they like. Others have inherited something extraordinary that needs gentle help. We love both, equally.

"

A garden should feel like it has always been there, even on the day you finish it.

Garden designer at work

A small studio, working at a patient pace.

Foxhollow was started in 2017 by Emma Thorne, in a potting shed at the end of her grandmother's garden. Seven years on, we're a studio of three — Emma, Tom Whitlock (our landscape architect), and Ivy our planting specialist.

We only take on eight gardens each year. That's not an accident — it's how we ensure we actually know each site, its soil, its light, its microclimates, before we put a single line on paper.

Every design starts with a long walk around the garden in different weather, a sketchbook, and a lot of listening to the people who'll live there.
